THE DRESS

every year around christmas i start wandering through stores with one thing in mind. a wonderfully, beautiful, delightfully, breathtaking christmas dress for my little A. i have done it EVERY year since her birth. however, when your husband and you are poor students getting such dress can be quite the challenge. why am i obsessed? i ALWAYS had a christmas dress. it was usually poofy and velvety. i ALWAYS had matching hair bows and feathered bangs to accompany it. we ALWAYS (my brother and I) went to penny's or sears and got a christmas picture taken. i remember those mornings fighting my mom tooth and nail against that pick she used in my bangs...oh how i hated it. however, now i am fixated on doing such things with my daughter (minus the yucky feathered bangs, sorry mom).

this year as dave and i were finishing up christmas shopping and drooling over things we couldn't afford, I FOUND IT! it was at GAP and it was everything i wanted. white and silver. it was shiny and would look wonderful with a black cardigan and the perfect shoes. dave fell in love too. (yes, he actually enjoys buying such things for his daughter) we picked it up, looked at the price, and set it right back down. there was no way said dress would be ours...sad, but, true!

from that point on every time we went out i would go by that store and check that dress, but, yet no price change. i told family and friends about it. I told Desi she must get one for her girls so i could be jealous. i know i know i sound crazy obsessive, i was. i loved it!

to make a long story short. a very awesome family member was in tune with my obsession and my little A received the dress for christmas. it was a bit to small and we had to take the 2t back all they had left was a 4-5 in GIRLS. we made the switch in the hopes it would fit our angel. IT DOES (a bit bitter sweet-2 year olds should not fit in such sizes).

A wore it last sunday and just glowed. dave and i couldn't stop talking about how grown up she looked! i love christmas and all it stands for. i may also love my daughter and the christmas dresses she will wear every year!
