BRIXTON PIERCE MEYERS WALL

ok where to start. we had another baby, yay!  this was a decision that we both prayed about. a lot. with hudson we knew, had spiritual confirmation there was another baby.  both of us at two very different times.  the idea of a fourth child was scary.  financially, physically, mentally.  four scared me.  however, i felt that something was missing.  i don't want to go into too much detail but we decided to try for a few months.  not long because we were content.
a month passed and nothing happened.  i got scared (stupid i know) but i did.  two months passed, i got sick, thought i was late....took 3 tests over a two week time span nothing.  i cried. but dave reassured me we would be ok either way.
(disclaimer; the longest it had taken me beforehand to get pregnant was 30 days.  probably 15 if i'm being technical.  i understand that two months is a short period of time. trust me and by no means am trying to sound like we struggled.  we didn't.)
a week later i had just hung up the phone with my best friend when i realized i was still late or hadn't started, either way.  i took a test still knowing that i wasn't pregnant.  i didn't feel like i had in the past.
sure enough i was wrong and i had a two deep pink lines. dave walked in our room about 20 minutes later and i was telling him about some story.  at the end i said and this happened today, handed him the test, and walked out of the room.  (drop mic and exit stage left)  he was clearly shocked, scared, overjoyed, and so sweet in that moment.  we promised each other that we wouldn't tell the kids until i was out of my first trimester.  in fact we told no one except my mom and my three closet friends for a few months. (hey a girls gotta talk to someone)
the pregnancy was pretty text book. some issues in the first trimester resolved themselves quickly.  i was sick. in fact i threw up most with the last one, go figure. i was tired....chasing three kids was no joke. i knew he was a she....in fact my doctor told me that at 15 weeks. our 20 week ultrasound rolled around and obviously things had changed....everyone wanted to know how addie reacted to a third brother.  she screamed "YES!"

long story short, everything was great.  i planned on delivering at 37 weeks like usual. now that is funny considering i went to 42 weeks who does that?  my membranes were stripped weekly, dave and i went on crazy walks, i ran at one point.  good hell, he wasn't coming out.  don't worry though the state of WA won't let you go a day past 42 weeks...awesome right. nope.  at my 40 week appointment the doctor said "you're out of room"  no s*%# was almost my response. "i bet he will be about 10 lbs."  that sounded delightful.

dave tried to keep things light.  i laid in bed from 40-41 weeks and cried.  my mom was there helped with the kids and dave brought me coke and candy daily.  i got texts and phone calls wondering what the heck was going on.  i hurt, everything hurt,  my groin felt like it was tearing (it was), my sciatic was so bad standing at all hurt.  moving sucked and i was done.

42 weeks rolled around and that night i was to be induced.  we were checked in at 6 pm and they weren't going to start the pit until around 3.  we settled in and had the most amazing staff.  around midnight the nurse came in and asked if i wanted something to help me sleep, i reassured her that wasn't going to happen so not to bother.  pit was started at 330.  dave was trying to sleep, but my anxiety was annoying and i needed him awake.  we walked the l&d floor and talked about the change this would bring our family.  i told him i was petrified something would happen, he called me crazy. Shift changed happened against my wishes but, labor was easy. i felt more contractions then ever before, and argued with the NEW nurse that i was ready to push.  why do they do that...my lady parts were on fire and i had pressure. "you were a five 10 min ago there is no way" brix was born three minutes later.....take that, know it all. 8:01 on 8/8 our last baby was born.  he came out and looked about as big as hudson. i snuggled and loved on him for a while and then they weighed him.  9 lbs 10 oz, 21 inches long.  good thing he was my fourth.  my sister in law said it best.  even at almost 10 lbs, they are still just as sweet and tiny as any newborn.
dave and i loved on him for a few hours...dave swooned like i had never seen before.  and i wouldn't put him down. that day was foggy, 26 hrs no sleep will do that to you.  ainsley and gma wall came and loved on him and tried to help us settle the middle name dilemma.  my mom brought the big kids.  add and gav were delighted, hudson was bugged.  they bathed the baby and we picked apart his little body and inhaled his new baby smell.  he looked like gavin with hudson's eyes.  he was our first baby that "roomed in", never leaving our side.  all of our friends called and swooned from a thousand miles away.
we couldn't agree on a middle name.  it had to be a family name to match the other two boys but the one we had chosen we were told not to use.  ellie had mentioned Pierce and while dave was on the phone i was filling out the birth certificate.  Pierce it was.  it fit.  he has  a cool name. Brix Wall. yes that was planned, by his father and the real housewives.  thank you tamera's son for wearing a Brixton brand shirt.  dave has always wanted a stone or a rocky.  Brix is much better.
brixy is the perfect ending to our baby making era. in his own way, he has filled the void neither of us knew was there.
