our sweet boy had his tonsils out 2 weeks ago.
he has been a mouth breather since he was born, we just attributed it to heredity since dave is to.
well, in late January he had RSV for 10th time in his 2 short years.
during his doctors appointment the doctor noticed he had no room in the back of his throat due to huge tonsils and adnoids.
she ordered an over night breathing test
we had to hook up a O2 monitor for 3 nights and it read his heart rate and stats
a week later we got the results, they weren't good and we were scheduled with a ENT.
the ENT was fabulous, it makes such a difference with Gavin when a doctor is personable.
the doctor showed us the test results, they were shocking.
not only was he below where he should be, but, it was scary how low he was getting at night.
to make a long story short children shouldn't drop below 93% O2 at night.
Gavin was sitting well below 75% for over 40% of the night.
his little heart was having to work so hard to keep him breathing.
they set up surgery for the next tuesday and the anxiety set in.
thank goodness for sister in laws who answered questions and just made me feel better.
Add played at B and B's while we took Gavin in, she was in heaven.
Gpa Meyers came down for moral support.
the surgery took all of 20 min, I spent it crying in the waiting room.
he woke up calm at first and then he became irate and they had to dope him up with morphine.
the doctors warned us that days 4-7 would be the worse.
for us it was days 2-4 and 7-9
i became very ill, probably the sickest i have ever been during the worst days.
it was bad, thank goodness my dad was here.
he kept me caught up on laundry and kept the kids happy.
dave was in school, i was dying...and the kids were taken care of.
i'm so thankful for all of our family and friends, i can't express it enough.
Gavin is now back to normal. He has lost a good 5lbs...as if he needed that.
they warned us that his voice would change...it has.
he now sounds as if he has been sucking on a helium tank...its great.
Daddy is next on the tonsil list we think. he has his sleep test this week and we will go from there.
wish us luck!
